Prepare for Digital Tax, protect your practice’s value, improve conversion

Learn how to prepare for Making Tax Digital, protect your practice’s value ahead of the 2025 Budget, and turn new patient enquiries into booked appointments with Virtual TC. Plus, you can catch up on the Surf Pacific webinar on-demand, and strengthen your business acumen with the next BDA Business Essentials course.

What is Making Tax Digital?

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is a UK government initiative that requires sole traders and landlords to keep digital records and submit tax information using approved software. It aims to cut errors, improve efficiency, and replace paper processes with digital tools.

Key dates

  • April 2026: MTD for Income Tax begins for sole traders/landlords earning £50,000+.
  • April 2027: Extended to those earning £30,000+.
  • April 2028: Extended to those earning £20,000+.

What this means for you

If you earned over £50,000 in 2024/25, you’ll need to follow MTD rules from April 2026. You must keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC via compliant software. This helps you stay on top of cash flow and tax throughout the year.

How we can help

We recommend Xero to make MTD simple. We can support you with:

  • Full MTD setup in Xero
  • Easy digital record-keeping with live bank feeds
  • Quarterly submissions in collaboration with your accountant
  • Training and ongoing support

If you'd like help getting ready for MTD or want a Xero demo, get in touch with our team.

The 2025 Budget, changing tax landscape, and what it means for your practice’s sale value

An article by Dental Practice Sale

With the 2025 Budget now confirmed, many dental practice owners are reassessing what the new tax landscape means for their practice value and future sale plans.

The freeze on income tax and NI thresholds until 2031, along with higher taxes on dividends, savings and property income, may influence both buyer affordability and the net proceeds you take home when you sell.

At Dental Practice Sale, we understand that shifts in taxation, funding priorities, and regulation can all have a significant bearing on your business’s financial position and long-term strategy.

Now is the ideal time to review how these developments may affect your practice’s valuation and explore ways to protect — and even enhance — your eventual sale outcome.

Our team is available for in-person or video consultations to:

  • Assess how the 2025 Budget changes may influence your practice’s value and sale outcomes
  • Review your current position in light of possible tax or regulatory changes
  • Identify opportunities for risk reduction and growth ahead of a future sale

Our goal is to keep you informed, proactive, and positioned for the best possible outcome.

If any of these considerations resonate with you, we encourage you to get in touch with our friendly, experienced team today — we pride ourselves on achieving exceptional results for our clients.

Why adding Virtual TC support can transform your marketing ROI

If you’re investing in marketing to generate new patient enquiries, you already know visibility isn’t enough. In today’s competitive dental market, patients often contact multiple practices within minutes—so the first interaction frequently determines who wins the booking.

And this is where many practices unintentionally lose revenue.

If you don’t have space for a Treatment Coordinator (TC), or your existing TC is tied up with treatment plans, patient flow, or chairside support, new leads can be missed or responded to too slowly. Even excellent front-of-house teams can struggle during busy periods, and most aren’t trained specifically to convert patients who are ‘shopping around’ with no existing loyalty.

Every call, email, and website enquiry needs to be handled with speed, warmth, and commercial awareness. That requires a very particular skill set—and consistent time to deliver it.

This is exactly where Virtual TC (VTC) becomes invaluable.

VTC acts as a seamless extension of your practice. We specialise in enquiry handling and patient conversion—so our conversion rates are typically far higher than in-house teams. Our goal is simple: build rapport fast, communicate your value with confidence, reduce price-shopping, and guide the patient to choose your practice instead of the next one on Google. We aren’t a reception overflow service. We are your TC.

By outsourcing this crucial first stage of the patient journey, you protect your marketing investment. Instead of paying for leads that go unanswered or unconverted, every opportunity is handled promptly and professionally.

If you’re overwhelmed with enquiries, short on FOH capacity, or simply want better conversion from your marketing spend, VTC provides flexible, high-performance support that turns enquiries into loyal patients.
