And if you had made different decisions, aspects of your life would be different today!Following that logic, where you will be in three to five years is a function of the decisions you make now and in the future so it makes good sense to get better at making decisions.You can never eliminate risk but there are proven techniques that can help you manage and de-risk the decision making process. We called our business Spot On Business Planning but in retrospect, we should have called it Spot On Decision Making because what we do, through the proven principles of the business planning process, is to help dental practice owners and managers choose the best outcome from a plethora of possibilities.In other words, if you could see the financial impact of the various scenarios afforded you, you could choose the one that gets you the best result. So business planning helps you de-risk your decision making process by allowing you to make mistakes on paper first, before you implement your chosen strategy.

Making it happen

So, we have a vision of where we would like the dental practice to be and how we would like it to look in three years. We have undertaken some scenario analysis and determined the best strategy from several available to us. Our chosen strategy underpins our vision so its pursuit is essential to our success. All we have to do now is articulate our vision and strategy to the dental team, drive through the necessary changes and tactics, and monitor our performance to ensure success – but how?
